Baked Falafel with Tahini Dip

Every time I go to Trader Joe’s, a new piece of yummy goodness hits my sights! I found this falafel mix, and decided I had to give it a go. If it sucks, I can just toss it, or add more of whatever ingredient in needs to fix it, right? e

They gave you a baked or a fried option. Healthy gal that I am, I chose to go baked. I made my little falafel balls and then opted to flatten them a little. When you’re baking, you don’t want the outside to dry out too much while waiting for the insides to cook. I dabbed my flat-a-fels with avocado oil, and popped them on a nonstick pan in my little countertop oven (I minimize using the giant 36″ oven on my range).

Follow the TJ’s instructions, and pop them out when ready. Ta-da!

I made a homemade tahini dip to go with these since I’m not a huge hummus fan. I used TJ’s organic tahini as a base. I followed this recipe, except I placed everything in a small blender (all 6 tbsp of water) and whizzed it into perfection. This is a great make-ahead appetizer for parties. Keep the falafel foil wrapped and warm in oven before serving. So good!
